Homoeopathy helps
the body to heal without the need to resort to strong drugs and

Homoeopathy in the Headlines
Homoeopathy was in the headlines today as legislation has been
passed allowing some homoeopathic medicines to be registered and
labelled according to what they treat.
Whilst this issue does show an increasing recognition of
homoeopathy it is in fact a regression for homoeopathy.
The reason is this.
Homoeopathy does not treat diseases or conditions. There is
no such thing as depression - there are in fact many different forms
of depression each one requiring a different remedy, there are may
different sorts of coughs, each with its unique remedy and so on.
The danger of labelling a remedy in this way is that it is a
generalisation. In making this generalisation the information
becomes inaccurate and whether it actually has an effect on what it
says it will be a hit and miss affair. This is not the way to
demonstrate the effectiveness of homoeopathy
The other danger of this that it encourages people to take
homoeopathic remedies for one condition. This flies in the
face of the homoeopathic model of health and disease which
understands symptoms as the body's way of dealing with disease.
The body always tries to do this in a way that is the least
threat to life. If we treat this route in isolation from other
aspects of the organism, then the only thing that the body can do is
find another route which can only be deeper and more of a
threat to life.
In fact, this is homoeopathy's main criticism of conventional
medicine but what is little recognised, is that it is also possible
to do this with homoeopathic remedies.
Treating with homoeopathy does not mean treating with
homoeopathic remedies. It means treating a person according to
the homoeopathic model of health and disease.
